Adena Rissman is a professor in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is passionate about land and water stewardship that reimagines our human and ecological relationships and advances the practice, knowledge, and wisdom of land care. Rissman directs the PIE lab: People Institutions & Ecosystems and conducts interdisciplinary research on the human and policy dimensions of natural resources and agricultural management. She was appointed to the Wisconsin Council on Forestry in 2020 and represents universities with undergraduate programs accredited by the Society of American Foresters. At UW-Madison, She received her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley and her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin. She previously worked as a state park assistant naturalist in Ohio, state forest planning analyst in Wisconsin, and farm intern in Missouri.
