Hilary is studying shared land tenure on U.S. private conservation lands. She’s a joint degree student between the Nelson Institute for Environmental
Studies and the Geography Department. Her scholarship spans political ecology, human and environmental geography, environmental studies,
critical theory, and political economy. Before starting her PhD she spent nearly a decade in environmental nonprofits in Oregon, New York, and
Michigan. Due to her experiences as a practitioner in the field, she is deeply committed to creating a scholarship that provides relevant and
actionable recommendations for current and future land conservation practitioners.
