Jen directs the University of Michigan Water Center where, over time, she has come to deeply value work that places those most affected by it at the center. Jen grew up and was educated in the ancestral lands of the Michi Saagig Anishinaabe (north of Lake Ontario) in a traditional, western mode that shaped her outlook until realizing that a commitment to sustainability is a commitment to place and to relationship with the people of that place. She is grateful for the patience, wisdom and knowledge that people of various places have shared with her, to help her understand how her gifts can be best used to support them in their place.
