Colin Welk is currently a Masters student at the University of Michigan School of Environment and Sustainability with a focus in Environmental Informatics. His primary academic interests lie in water quality, landscape ecology, and land use planning and specifically, the application of GIS tools and landscape-level models towards these issues. Previously, Colin received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Iowa State University, conducted research tracking non-point source pollutants in a peri-urban watershed, and worked on various projects for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources involving mapping changes in agricultural best management practices and assessing recreational trail infrastructure using GPS.
