TSN Conference 2026
January 22nd, 2026 (Thursday) // 3:05 pm – 4:05 pm // Red Cedar Room // Updates to the Flora of the Huron Mountain Club // The Huron Mountain Club is a large property in Marquette County supporting many natural communities in a nearly pristine condition, most notably a large network of granite bedrock glades and a vast old-growth mesic northern forest. Further, there are 11 inland lakes, 13 rivers and streams, and 13 miles of Lake Superior shoreline. Across 2024 and 2025, I spent 35 days botanizing the Club and documented more than 600 vascular plant species, including more than 25 county records and 10 species that are tracked as Threatened, Endangered, or Special Concern in Michigan. I will share photographs, notable finds, and descriptions of the unique natural communities and geological features encountered.
