Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) are quickly changing the game in wildlands management: used for remote sensing and map generation in Early Detection/Rapid Response, herbicide application in invasive species, Larvaciding for mosquitos, and even seeding trees and other terrestrial seed spreading. They can bring speed, precision and efficiency to activities that are currently difficult to impossible. This talk will briefly cover remote sensing then focus on spray and solids applications scenarios. Expectation management and evaluation methods to assure successful UAV applications will be covered. Things to consider when deciding whether to contract or bring drone applications in-house will be discussed. Attendees should come away from this talk with a solid understanding of how to approach and evaluate UAV’s for their operations.
